My Evening in the Lonesome October
Posted on October 15th, 2010
I was reading A Night in the Lonesome October this afternoon/evening, mainly because earlier I’d rearranged books, found it, and realized I’d completely forgotten the plot in the fifteen years since I’d previously read it. And, well, it’s October. It seemed appropriate.
Anyway. After the burgers and truffle fries M so kindly brought home, I was curled up on the couch finishing it when P decided she needed to snuggle. I finished the book and she was lying next to me, so calm and beatific, that I couldn’t help but say, “I love you.” (Because after reading about a battle to summon Elder Gods, I just felt all lovey.) She gave me a sweet smile. And I went further and said, “Do you know what that means?”
She replied, “We can’t eat boogers.”
Ah, teachable moments. They come at the oddest times.

She’s right, n’est pas?
What is icky is that she says those things right after she’s done them. I chose to ignore it. I didn’t see it…and figure it can’t be worse than the mint she ate off the floor this morning.
