Truffle fries make everything better
Posted on March 8th, 2011
Last night, M popped by Chinatown on the way home for take out. This sounds vaguely cool – and it actually was to family visiting from Austin – but for those of you from the West Coast, bear in mind this was my siblings’ take on Portland’s Chinatown: “We were going to go visit your Chinatown, until we realized that you don’t actually have one.”*
And oh, it was greasy and good….at the time. Today I’ve eaten toast with marionberry preserves and some cream of chicken soup. Thanks for nothing, House of _.
Anyway. My appetite is finally back, and M is on a mission to get burgers and truffle fries at Little Big Burger tonight. Meat! And fries with truffle oil! Heavenly.
Oh, and the other fun thing about today? I only had two hours of sleep. Yessss. Because popping a 3 year old in the bath at 3 AM is just that much fun, right? And she was such a delight from 3 to 5, too.
But again, on the brighter side of life? She took a 4 hour nap. I dozed. And she’s been genuinely delightful since waking up, even informing me that the dinosaurs in the snow song on Dinosaur Train was “a very silly song.” I made a list of all the things to tweak in my novel draft (well, the big things). I cleaned. (OK, so that isn’t exactly on the win column, but still.)
Did I mention the fries? Can’t. Wait.
*This was pre-Lan Su.

You and me both. Last night Tedd lost his lunch and his dinner all over the stairs at almost 1 a.m. and I had to clean it, then the Babby woke up at 6 a.m. And she was up the night before and before that I had insomnia.
I need some of those fries, badly.
Oh, Christa. That sucks.
I hope Tedd recovers soon and that you and your P get a pass on it. I would have had a hell of a time cleaning up the stairs – that’s just – ugh.
The fries are wonderful – they spritz them with truffle oil when they come out of the fryer. Also, the ketchup has Sriracha in it. So good, and probably not too hard to duplicate!
