Around the AAL household, we’re tired, aching (work party is a misleading name for day labor), cranky, but relieved the hot weather has broken. After tomorrow, it looks like our highs are going back into the 70s.

Whew.

Pea is eagerly awaiting the start of school. I am eagerly awaiting the start of school, if only because it means all of the preparation for school will be at an end (and that my purchase of many things — on top of the materials fees — is over).

There are a lot of meetings and, this week, a home visit from Pea’s teacher. Every parent we spoke to at the school, when they found out Pea’s teacher they gushed about how great she is and how much their kids loved her. And she really is nice. All I’m concerned about her getting out of kindergarten is the idea that school is fun (we want to perpetuate that as long as we possibly can), and it looks like we’re right on track.

In other news, I am editing, writing, and complaining about how much my back hurts. I want chocolate donuts. And Diet Dr. Pepper. And for M to go to the store and procure said donuts and soda.
