Good opinion, once lost…

After dropping Pea off at school, I took M to the lab (it is a holiday for federal employees but not for kids).
It was a tiny setup, and in the waiting area (total seating: 5), I ended up sitting next to a Very Prominent Attorney (M even recognized him from the bar publications).
Very Prominent Attorney did not recognize me, to my relief.
Very Prominent Attorney did not wait patiently. Much sighing.
Very Prominent Attorney did not stand up for the older woman who entered (M glared at him and then did).
Very Prominent Attorney flatulated in front of the entire tiny waiting room.
All I can say is I really will not be able to look at that guy again the same way. Also? I’ll remember that every public appearance, even in a tiny waiting room, is a chance to ruin a good reputation.

Oh, good grief. Ewww,
M is such a gem for even knowing to stand up. I admit to that practice not even being on my radar. I was raised to have formal manners that primarily expedited my dad’s work with Japanese businessmen. The general home rule was just that we sacrifice for the comfort of older people, period, end of story.
I’d just be happy if people held the damn door.
Ew! So gross! He must think he’s above common courtesy!
Maybe that’s why he did not stand and relinquish his seat for the lady – he was fearful of flatulating!
I hadn’t thought of the possibility he was afraid of passing gas! LOL! I still won’t be able to look at him the same way, though!
I had no expectation that he would give up his seat. He was probably there for the random drug screen they sometimes make people do in diversion programs.
