The New Toy

I feel weird bragging about a thing I bought (other than books), because we are poorish and I feel guilty about gadgets. But I had been really unhappy about my ancient Kindle (2) situation, because it is soooooo slooooow, the screen resolution was driving me crazy (and my eyes couldn’t focus for long), and I couldn’t look at a large PDF without the thing gacking and crashing.
So I spent several months wanting a new Kindle. But I didn’t want a new Kindle, because I had a Kindle that worked, kind of, and it would be weird to have a Kindle that worked and to buy a new one. So I dithered.
Finally I realized I didn’t really want to upgrade Kindles. I wanted a Fire. M informed me that was silly, because a Fire was just a crippled Android tablet. We researched. To get to the point, I finally decided what I wanted, after more dithering, was an Asus Nexus 7 1B32 7-Inch 32 GB Tablet. Which I just call Tablet, but whatever.
I. Love. This. Thing. I’ve had it for all of five hours and I love it. I love it more than the iPads I’ve used. Love. It’s tiny compared to the tablets M and Pea use (yes, Pea has M’s very old tablet and M got a new tablet for Christmas/anniversary, because he never got to use his because Pea was always playing games or watching or doing educational apps on it). But it is exactly what I wanted.
(And I love the sassy orange case, too.)

Yay! If anyone deserves a new reading thingy, it would be you. (So “gah” to the guilt!)
Thank you! I really am loving it. Today I worked on the Tempest and a book about scurvy, so I’m in heaven.
Congrats! Curiosity – what kind of tablet does M have?
He has a Lenovo thinkpad 1838-25u, he says. He needs something he can handwrite on, because his handwriting is so illegible that it takes a computer to read it. And sometimes not even then!
