Did you know? I wrote a short book that incorporates my favorite practice tips, adds some new ones, and gives guidance for new attorneys. Check it out! And then I wrote another one for law students!
My “legal advice” (in quotes because I don’t give legal advice, just advice about how to be legal) falls into two categories: practice tips and personality sketches of the lawyers you’ll meet in practice.
Practice tips:
- Social media and your client
- Don’t friend your clients
- Don’t be a dick
- Talking to clients
- Doing your best for unlikeable clients
- When to shut up
- Creating a big book of [law]
- Journals and “private” materials
- Dealing with incompetent opposing counsel
- Five things all new lawyers should know
- The last silly hurdle (the bar exam)
- How to deal with clients
Lawyers you will meet:
- The angry dude
- The cougar
- The crazy
- The earnest young thing
- The douche
- The old coot
- The clueless know-it-all
Clients you will meet:
